So I've received this email a hundred times so far this year and just saw that Becca was smart enough to post it on her blog. Huh. Brilliant! So here it is--the Christmas version of Everything You Never Cared to Know About Peggy:
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper whenever possible. Somethings just can't be wrapped and I can respect that. When I was little, my mom used to tie ribbon around and around the presents so we couldn't peek. They were always so pretty and artistic. And you needed a Bowie knife on Christmas morning to open them.
2. Real tree or Artificial? I LOVE real trees and respect those with the energy to maintain them. However, when all is said and done, I personally will take our artificial pre-lit tree any day of the week. That's what pine scented candles are for, friends!
3. When do you put up the tree? The day after Thanksgiving
4. When do you take the tree down? Usually on New Year's Day
5. Do you like eggnog? Oh yeah!
6. Favorite gift received as a child? My toy horse on springs. I named him "Rawhide" and loved him with all of my heart and soul!
7. Hardest person to buy for? Scott--he never wants anything!
8. Easiest person to buy for? Pretty much anyone on my side of the family. They don't really have a lot so they appreciate anything they get.
9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yep. A Willow Tree Nativity. I love it because I love Willow Tree, but also because it reminds me of my sweet friends who bought it for me and one of the funnest weeks of my life!
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail. If you email me a Christmas card, I will break up with you.
11. Favorite Christmas Movie? Yogi's First Christmas. Luckily, Jack loves it too. We watch it all year round!
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Where is 12? Oh well. One less to answer. Um, it depends. In years past, I waited until Christmas Eve but now I try to have it finished by like the 15th of December.
14. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? FUDGE! Did you see my Twitter update yesterday? Jack was "taking orders" and asked me which I wanted for my birthday--fudge or a midget. So young and he already knows my two weaknesses!
15. Lights on the tree? Yes please. I think I prefer white but Jack likes the colored ones. He always wins.
16. Favorite Christmas song? "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" and "Old City Bar" by Trans Siberian Orchestra
17. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Yes. We're with my family in Idaho every other year. When we're here, we open presents here first thing in the morning and then go to Scott's mom's house later for an all day family thing. Um, fun.
18. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, Rudolph! -I'm not going to lie that I just kept Becca's answers. But I know them too. I do! Really!
19. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star. Usually the angels have wings and that freaks me out.
20. Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning. I would love to do the Christmas Eve jammy thing but I can't be bothered to make them and buying them just isn't in the budget.
21. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? I hate the commercialism. It has been a lot more fun for me this year to focus on Jesus and family.
22.Favorite Ornament theme or color? My favorite ornament is the one we bought in Hawaii when we were on our honeymoon--when we started the tradition of buying an ornament whenever we go on vacation. It's a cute Hawaiian bride and groom and I love it!!
23. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Growing up, we didn't have money--we had food stamps. So Christmas was all about food. It's pretty much a duplication of Thanksgiving but I don't mind. I love it!
24. What do you want for Christmas this year? You know, I've been asked that a lot and for the first time, I can't honestly think of anything. I'm so blessed. I have a great husband, a cute kid, I'm finally over the barfing stage of pregnancy so I feel great...I have a home, food, transportation and good friends. Is there anything else worth wanting???
3 smart remarks:
Oh Peggy. You make the rest of us (i.e. ME) look like worldly covetous heathens with our Christmas Wish Lists. But I'm glad you love the nativity!
Ohmigosh, Peggy, I LOVE YOU! That was awesome... and I'm so copying you now! :)
I LOVE the Christmas ornament idea from places you travel. We'll have to start doing that! Pegs, you crack me up! I love reading your blog!
