I'm just grateful he was in the FRONT of the car, although, really, it's just a matter of time...

So in the spirit of our "True Spirit of Christmas" season we've been enjoying this year (and I mean ENJOYING! It has been, without contest, one of our best Christmases ever!) we made cookies for the local police department on Monday night. It was so much fun! Initially Jack wanted to make them for firefighters but I couldn't get ahold of anyone at the station all day so I suggested maybe we give them to police officers, who work really hard to keep us safe. He was all over it! So we spent like 2 1/2 hours baking and frosting cookies after I called and left a message for the PD to see if they could even accept them. (The police chief called back and said they normally wouldn't accept homemade treats from someone they don't know, but how can he refuse them from a 3 year old boy? He then offered to have an officer on-duty stop by the house and pick them up. How convenient!!) So a little after 7, there's a knock at the door and sure enough--a grateful police officer to pick up the cookies we'd baked the department. (I tried to get a picture of him with Jack, but Jack wasn't interested) He did ask Jack if he wanted to come sit in his car, which of course was a "heck yes!" So we all bundled up and went out front where he let Jack turn on the lights and siren and even showed him the "big gun" he keeps strapped tot he back of the car. Jack was very impressed. All in all, it was great. He gave Jack some sticker-badges that he wore proudly (though he saved one to take to show and tell today) (Passing Point: At this second, Jack is pretending to be "Jack the Carpet Cleaner Guy" playing with a tablecloth he's pretending is bleach and the vaccuum. He wants desperately to use the vaccuum, but I won't let him (I know, I'm crazy.) But he's showing me how you have to pour the "bleach" into the "Rug Doctor" to clean the floor "properly." But you need "very precise measurements." This kid is going to make some girl a very good husband (which explains why she'll never be good enough for him in my eyes!) Anyway, back to my story: So he gave Jack the sticker-badges and he is so proud of them. I love this picture:Here are some other pictures I took of Jack in the police car. Not great shots, but still...

All in all, it's been a GREAT Christmas season. I think we've found a few things that we'll definately need to do again next year!
