GIRL!! To prepare myself, I'm writing this blog all in pink. We are having a girl. I'm pretty sure I'm being punished. I mean, nightmare barfing, a calling to be a Den Mother in the Cubscouts at church and now this. A girl. I find myself completely unprepared and freaked out. During the ultrasound, my midwife was looking for the gender and I saw the image on the screen and said (quite astutely if you ask me) "Christy, that baby doesn't have a penis." She confirmed that it did not and took my demands that she put a penis on that baby and I mean NOW a lot lighter than she should have, in my ever so humble opinion. I'm hoping that my dear friend Michelle is right when she comforted me saying that for her, a maternal light just clicked on and she realized that she, too, is a girl and can handle it. All I keep thinking about are training bras and tampons and I think I need a paper bag to blow in. I've warned those near and dear and I'll tell you all: you buy her tights with ruffles on the bum, you never see her again. I think it's cruel and unusual punishment to put ruffles on the bum of a poor baby who cannot defend herself. Sigh. Scott, of course, is over the moon and can't wait. Jack still wants to name her "Owen Everett" even though we're trying to help him understand that it's a GIRL. I think he's in denial with me. Thanks for having my back, buddy.
Anyway, there's the scoop. I have some great pictures from Christmas to post--I'll try to get to that soon. I just wanted to share the news and ask for your prayers and fasting on my sanity's behalf.
Holy crap, buckle me in.

YAY!!!!!!! Congrats
Well Congrats having a girl is not that bad I have 2 and one is 15 and she is by far the best kid I could have asked for. I tell people I would have 10 girls to my one boy.
Yippeee!! Congrats to your family. Girls is great!
I felt the same way when we found out we were having a boy. You'll love it because they are the sweetest little things, as babies I mean, now that Gracie is four I've changed my mind a little.
Congrats though, way exciting!
Danielle
Oh BABY! You will do a great job! Plus, whatever you lack, Scott will make up for... Plus Jack will be so cute protecting his little Sis!
Are you kidding? I can think of quite a few things I wouldn't want to deal with when it comes to boys. I mean, seriously. And remember that shower I'm throwing for you? The theme is "Ruffle-Bum Tights." (I know how much you miss me.)
peggy i am so excited for you! girls are the best, they are so cute and they are just so different then little boys. they both have there appeal, and i am sure you will love your gilr just as much as you love jack jack. i love having a boy and a girl, it's fun, and they are just both so cute in their own unique ways. you'll love it! trust me.
My relationship with Kenna is totally different that my relationship with Aiden, but just as special and sweet. You'll figure it out, just like you did with Jack. Congratulations!
Oh congrats! I'll trade you my boy for your girl! I'm so excited for you!
Is that really an offer, Jessica? Because A. you know I think Chase is the cutest thing EVER and B. You'd do a MUCH better job than me being the 2nd cutest thing ever.
Hip Hooray! I'm happy for you and you will be happy for you too when you see how fun it is. I do admit though that I think I can only handle my one. Jack will be such a champ with her!!
Yay for girls! (hello, 6 sisters here speaking!)
Where it was Jack who liked the whole purse thing and the vacuuming thing, your girl will probably be all into tonka trucks and action figures anyway!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! THANK HEAVEN FOR LITTLE GIRLS! Your life will never be the same. We were shocked with our 2nd when we were SO positive it would be a boy. I belive my words were: "where's the winky???"
Congratulations!!!! Girls are AWESOME!!! (Although I will admit a tear or two escaped me when I found out we were having another girl!) AND, I dare you to just resist patting that baby's ruffle bum and adoring every second of it!
Oh my, we were there! Our first was a boy and our second (four years later) was a girl. Diaper changing was the worst to get used to. There were just so many layers where things could be hiding. We developed a deeper appreciation for the simplicity of the male anatomy. On the other hand, it took all of about 5 seconds to adjust to the idea of having a girl and wouldn't change for the world!
Also, I think someone should create a prize for best alliteration used in a blog title, and give it to you!
Wow, a girl. Congratulations! You'll be fine (and so will she), I'm quite sure. :)
Peggy!!!! Congrats on the baby!! I curse you that she'll be a Peggy Jr....I meant Bless you :) Love you to pieces - congrats again!
You will love having a girl peggy sue! it will be like young womens (except that she will be with you forever!) miss ya!
